it would be better not to be so specific in asking this question. why does ANYONE regarless of who they are stick to any group stereotype. if i understand you correctly, i think people do this because they want to belong or "fit in" as you might say. you can't simply pin this on "preps", after all, what about "goths" or "jockies" or whatever.

I don't understand the question, but people call me a prep, and personally I'm tired of being labeled an ***hole just because I try to look nice. Why are WE the judgemental ones? I've got ten times more from the other sub-cultures who don't even know me and already decided they don't like me. We're unwelcome around them, so we don't associate with them. When we don't associate with them, they say we're stuck up, but they judge against us first. I'm not going to go where I'm not welcome, that doesn't make me stuck up.

I don't think this answered the question, but I'm not sure as I didn't really understand it in the first place. At least it gave me somewhere to rant.

because most of them want to be in the popular group and act all snobby. i personally dont care abou that stuff. i have friends that are true friends and that will be there for me.....most preps, on the other hand, just have friends that use them.....
