I have a chatter, or knock when under load. after I come up to speed it goes away, also when cold and first started it knocks unless I set thumb cruise control up over 2000rpm. Once bike is warm it only knocks under load, not on warm startup.

Go over to the classic wing special interest group and ask there. On my '78 the clutch adjustment is on the back of the motor, you have to remove the inspection plate on the clutch cover. It may be the same way for yours I don't know. My wing is naked so It's not too bad to get too. But the chatter or knock you have may not be what you think it is. Ask in the CWSIG, lots of knowledgable people on there.

-There is no adjustment. Just clutch cable free play.
-Syncronise the carbs. Uneven impulses going through the engine because of the carbs being out of sync will cause the clutch to chatter.
-If you know the clutch is the problem, either live with the noise or take the clutch out and inspect the basket and clutch plates. The clutch can be removed while the engine is in the frame. Special tools are needed and it's not a fun or easy job.
