I am 15 and I use text language because I find it easy to use and understand. When you are sending a text message, you are only limited to a certain number of characters and therefore you are merely getting value for money by cutting down words to fit more text in. I also think that if you are having a convosation with someone over msn (an online messenger service) it is easier to have a proper chat with them if you can type at a fair speed to maintain the flow of the convosation. As long as someone doesn't use text language in the wrong places, then I think it is fine to use.

it actually takes longer to work out what people, sorry, ppl, are saying in text talk than it would just to write in english. At the risk of sounding like an old bat, it's not a good habit for kids to get into either, they'll never learn good grammar and spelling.

I loathe and abhor this practice. However, people are keen to answer quickly and have their response appear closer to the top of the list, in the belief they will be rewarded with 10 points. Why not counter this erroneous thinking by going for quality over speed and vote for my grammatic answer?

Yes I find it frustrating sometimes but usually I'm in such a hurry I don't even notice unless it's something I can't make out

I agree it is frustrating to read the things younger people write since we are not in their circle...its pretty much illegible to those who do not use it/have knowledge of the "new words".

It is just terrible and really gives away the kids on this site.
I fear for the writing skills of future generations, how do they get away with writing like this in school ?

Just been marking some university student papers, one of which had been submitted in text speak, needless to say it failed to meet the grade.
