I was a federal prisoner escort and was escorting a black inmate around for 8 weeks while he was in the community on a work release program. I had escorted another younger black male prior and he was in the halfway house when older gentleman was out. I heard younger man calling older one the n word. So while we were driving around one day I asked him why it was alright for this younger black male to call him the n word and yet if I was to do the same he would probably be offended. Well to my surprise this man informed me that it mattered not who called him the n word that he was offended by it whether it came from a white man, a red man or a black man. He was offended by this word regardless of were it came from. I must inform you that I am physically challenged and I think that helped me relate to him also and be so open as he felt that I was also a repressed member of society aka: a visable minority. I should also report the ages of these two males - the younger was 30 years old and had only done 12 years, the older was 62 and had a total of 32 years incarceration. He had grown up in an era when a black man would be very offended by the use of this word and still stuck to his moral belief that this was an inappropriate word to use and as he stated "especially from a brother".
So I guess that answer didn't really answer your question though now did it. I have had many people I have known who are black. And no I do say things about them behind their back about their race that I would not say in front of them. You can use my example above as a testimony to that.

I'M NOT WHITE!!! but your question got my attention, so I'm here!
Weird question! I'm responding just cause it happened to be a question in the list I answered a question from earlier..
Anyway, you're black, I don't even know if people would consider me black or whatever (I'm an Indian) at where you come from, BUT... friends, they're not defined by color, cast, creed, region or religion... they are just called friends & you choose them after you've known all such things about them (i.e. if you consider any of 'em important enough to base your decision upon)...
If you do my dear, I'm sorry, you'd never find good friends. & the ones you may think are good, wouldn't be, considering a question like this surfaces in your head... hope you understand what I mean!
PS: I feel sorry for the person who might have triggered this question in your head! (S)he can't be a friend to anyone! Tell IT to go get a life!

I am white, and I have black friends, and I treat them the exact same way as my white friends. I don't talk bad behind anyone's back. Why are you asking this for? Are you a racist or something???

why would you do that to somebody who is your friend?? I am white and i only have 2 white friends, and i make fun about our race than i would even think about doing to my friends of another culture. what is the point in insulting a friend and possiblily lossing a friend because you feel the need to do something as stupid as making fun of another race

Black friends, yes. Say stuff behind their back? No, then I wouldn't be a friend.
