Just to be safe, stay away from the sugary stuff.Because sometimes you can develop diabetes during pregnancy, and it usually goes away after the baby is born. But you will probably check out ok!!

although its gonna make you feel like crap, the best thing to do is nothing by mouth after midnight. Provided the test is early in the morning, you should be fine. If the test is scheduled later in the day, then its probably not a fasting test. Good luck. Ive been through it many times with my 4 kids...and I know how it makes you feel. Be sure not to forget to take a snack to eat immediately after the test and also a sweet drink like coke or something. Not eating for that long will cause your blood sugar to be lower than normal and will usually make you have a headache and some nausea. I would take some peanut butter crackers and a coke or something like that!!!

You should not have anything to eat or drink 12 hours before the test, except for H2O. Food and drink intake will make your test results out of wack. Congratulations and good luck.

Avoid sugars! The doctor should have told you that. You don't have to fast, but definatly avoid sugars since that is what they are going to be giving you. Should be an orange soda drink. You can get very sleepy and expect a headache if this is the test they are doing.
Good luck!

Yes thats right. Just water and very little of it my doctor said. And the stuff you have to drink before the test is yucky. It's for the good of you and your baby though so follow docs orders. Congratulations on your baby! I wish you luck!

I did the test at lunch time, and hadn't had anything since 12 thenight before...I started to feel nauseous...I talkd to my Dr she said that I could have had a piece of toast to tide me over...the test is kinda yucky. With drinking the fizzy drink on a empty stomach it made me ill.

Please ask your doctor what to avoid, but as I've taken these diabetes tests in the past, they do not want you to eat or drink 12 hours before the test (usually overnight). good luck!

No food, no drinks, no candy, nothing but water from midnight on the the night before. Unless you get light headed or something like that, then call your doctor's office.

When I was little we had one of those totally 70's vans with carpet and drapes... We used to take road trips and I remember my dad asking me to bring him up beers from the back cooler as he was driving, with little kids in the car and staying up for over 48 hours on end to get where we were going on time! Nice! Really nice!
