I actually just graduated from college with an associates degree and have two assoicate degrees from two different colleges. I've also been working at this fast food place for over a year now and still havent gotten a raise. For some reason, they dont want to give people raises. I just feel that they should raise the minimum wage to $6.50/hr at least or work in a bigger city like Austin because I was told that fast food places start you off at $8.00/hr.

Yes, minimum wage is 7.00/hr. I should know, I work! So what they're paying you is too low because it is below minimum wage. Also, I think you're above working at a fast food place with your degrees. Do something with them, like helping at a college, or something that you find interesting, not just something to give you a job. You deserve better, so go for it! Good luck!

$5.75 is kinda low for a minimum wage. $6.50 is a reasonable wage per hour. You should discuss it with your boss, tell him you've been working hard and think you should deserve a raise! Working in a bigger city also works and they do start you off with more money since the population is greater

Well, your wage is about the national minimum wage so no, it's not too low for fast food. However, since you've been there for so long, it may be time to ask for a raise.

What are you going to do with three associates degrees?

Its your location. In the East some fast-food places pay as much as 8.00 an hour.

5.75 is probably too low for a large chain, although they aren't going to pay more if that's the going rate for the area. For a smaller restaurant it may have to do because some small businesses just can't afford better.

With a degree you should maybe even seek Management Position if you want to say in the restaurant business.

Unfortunately the national minumum wage average is somewhere in the neighborhood that you quoted.

Listen...this is what I would do if I were you. Talk to your manager about perhaps seeking a management position. You've paid your dues both in experience and also through school - so take a shot at it.

Good Luck.

sorry to say, but a lot of places only pay that much. have you ever considered waitressing? are you planning on getting a bachelor's or getting a different job using those 2 other associate degrees? i'd say try to find a new job...sometimes you get comfortable at a place even though it isn't the best job for you.

Well, since you have been to college, dont you think you could find a better paying job instead of just wanting minimum wage to increase?

If you have all those degrees use them...get out and find a decent job that has benefits and better pay. Go into something you studied even if it is restaurant...if they don't advance you or give you raises get out...you are waisting your degrees in a place like that.
