In the books one of the charaters from the show and movies was gay. The character lost his boyfriend in the movie First Contact and was depressed about it. (I don't remember the character's name.)

I have to go with Geordi. It is just a feeling that I get from him, that and all of his "romances" only last like one episode and don't seem to involve any shall we say "alone time".
