only if it's a +/- burner.. most of the early ones, and almost all of the cheaper ones are strictly + OR - not both, it's not something you can change. If it's one that does either, you can use either by just putting in whichever type of blank media.

Why would you want to do this? I can't think of a single reason this would be something to do. Just use it in either format, don't attempt to alter its capabilites. Why reduce the capabilites when you may need the + at a later date? Plus, You can't do what you are asking anyway. Don't mess with your hardware, just buy what you want and replace it. You will be replacing it anyway if you try altering the basic format structure of a removable media drive. lol

Seriously, just use it as intended, it has both capabilites you just don't know how to use it properly. Read your manual, go to the Online support at the manufacturer website and learn what you need to know to properly use your DvD Drive. K?
