What a great question, you must of read my mind, I go to the library in my city at least 2 times a week and everytime I go there, there are homeless people in their sleeping out in the open or sometimes in the back where there a little hidden cubicles. Yesterday two homeless men where in the library playing chess. Sence they spend so much time in the library they have become quite savvy with using the computer and they just sit on the computer and surf the dating sites for single women,
they even have e-mail, the computers are always occupied now so people who really need to use them to fix resumes or for school have to wait. I feel bad for the homeless but it is quite disturbing to them in the library, the library is now very noisey and smelly, everything is a mess in there. It is such a trickey situation because it is a public place so they can't be asked to leave unless they are doing something really horrible. I the city would build some type of housing for the homeless, so they won't have to loiter in areas they don't belong just to get a good nights/day sleep

Well that is an interesting question. Most libraries are public domains meaning that anyone, including the homeless, has a right to use them. I would think that if the person is disturbing no one, that it is within the hours of operation and they are not taking space needed by someone else they really have no right to ask them to leave.

My tax dollars are not going towards the public library just so I can sit next to some homeless person that hasn't bathed in months.

I dont think they should let the homeless sleep in the library but they should have a special housing building that they can sleep in & get some food at.

No a library is not really a hotel. I doubt they even let the homeless in most libraries.

NO
homeless people create their own situation, they made a series of poor choices and must pay the consequences of their own actions
