It depends on my company. If they are good speakers I prefer to listen to them. If they have nothing interesting to say I prefer to talk.
Or something like that. :)

I agree with the guy. Listen. You keep talking and will be oblivious to your surroundings and what is going on. You are more perceptive listening and no one knows what you know if you do not say a word. People will make an instant judgement upon you once you open up your mouth. Also for example: If you dont understand something, no one will know how stupid you are ( not you, people in general) let the next idiot ask

I'm well known for listening with my friends. They all know I am not judgmental, and will listen to anything.
I offer advice only when asked ( well, MOSTLY )
It's a toss up as to which is better.
Sometimes you just NEED to talk about something, and others , you really just NEED someone there to listen to you vent.
So, they are both equally good, depending on the situation.

i think prefer listening so i think listening is better
it is true that there is no point of talking if there's nobody listening, but it is NOT true that there is no point of listening if nobody is talking because there is so much more to listen to other than people talking. you can listen to nature or other man-made sounds like people accidentally dropping something, whistling, etc.
also, it is the listeners that make speakers famous. without listeners, there would not be speakers. but without speakers, there would wtill be listeners
and some quotes about why i think its better to listen....
"god gave us two ears and one mouth so we can listen twice as much as we talk"
"it is better to keep your mouth closed and give the impression of stupidity than to open yout mouth and remove all doubt"
and theres a chinese quote that translates into something like "the more you talk, the more trouble you get into"

well both, how can the good speaker be good if nobody listen? and how will you listen if the speaker is boring. Famous listeners/ speakers mostly are in the congregations , meetings, churches etc. .

In order to talk, one must listen...humans have two ears and one mouth; we should listen twice as much as we speak.

The words of the wise are seldom spoken
If you're talking, it's mostly about you..
if you're listening.. you're learning so much more about everyone else.. and learning their wisdom
