When does a student-teacher relationship end?

If a high school student wanted to have a relationship with a teacher, would it be okay if the teacher resigned his position as a teacher at the school and if the student graduated? Are there any laws in New York that give information regarding such relationships?

that would be fine as long as the teacher was not teaching anymore and the child was 18 or older. if the child is under 18 the teacher could be charged with rape and be sentenced to at least 10 yrs in jail...
