Well, just a wild guess here but I'd say you are low on virtual memory.

Your hard drive needs some space freed up on it. Uninstall some of those old programs you no longer use and delete the crap (i.e. temporary internet files, cookies, old files you don't need/want, etc.)

Increase your RAM.

That means that your computer does not have enought RAM so when all RAM is being use the computer uses the allowed space call virtual memory to place files while the CPU is working.
The best way is to upgrade your computer with more RAM if your system can take it ,take a look at www.crucial.com it can scan your system for avaiable room and advise you with the right RAM to use. If RAM update is not possible and you want the message to go away then right click on MY COMPUTER and click the ADVANCE tab and then advance again and click change and then increase the amount of disk space the computer can use as RAM memory. This will slow down a little the performance of your computer beacuse it takes longer to get info from hard drive then RAM.

Your computer has two ways of holding your data-- physical memory (known as RAM / SDRAM), and storage media memory (hard drives, cd-roms, floppy disks, etc).

When you are running more programs / games / web browsers than what can fit into your systems physical memory, your computer will start using space on your hard drive as "virtual" memory. This tends to be a Bad Thing, because physical memory is actually about 1000 times faster than your hard-drive-based "virtual" memory.

But if you are seeing messages that you are low on Virtual Memory, than that is even worse. It probably means that your hard drive is full or almost full.

If you want to try to change your Virtual memory settings, You need to go into left-click on My Computer and chose Properties. Then click the Advanced tab and click on the Settings button for performance. A new window will open and again click on the Advanced tab and chose the Change button in the virtual memory settings. Change the numbers to twice the size you see specified, and click OK, etc.

Virtual memory is actually hard drive space that the computer uses when it runs out of "real" memory. You may need to free up some space on your hard drive by deleting stuff you don't want any more, or move it to a CD or DVD instead. Also uninstall any programs you can live without.

You can also add more RAM memory.

Virtual memory is memory that resides in your hard disk. It's what takes over when the physical memory from your memory chips have been used up by programs and processes. Go to START > RUN then type msconfig then click on the STARTUP tab and uncheck the programs you don't want to load at startup. Click on APPLY then OK. This will free a lot of physical memory and make your machine run faster. You will have to reboot for the changes to take effect.

Throw out the piece of crap you have and buy a better one :-)

It means you are low on RAM memory, that is memory used to easily access programs and stuff, display things... all of that. Just set the virtual memory usage higher, right click your control panal and click properties, you should be able to find it from there... but *sighs* here it is anyway
right click on control panal (i start menu) and press properties
click the advanced tab
under the performance section press settings
go to the advanced tab
under virtual memory press change
and make it higher! I suggest 1000-2000 megabytes.

Right click on my computer-properties- advanced tab- click settings under performance- click advanced tab- click change under virtual memory and increase the size there.

Windows uses virtual memory to run programs on the operating system. Each program needs a certain amount of virtual memory to run.

Hope this helps.

It maybe bored and lonely. Try carressing the monitor frame and touching the CPU tower with the tips of your fingers. After that wait four minutes. If your comp still desires this "virtual memory" (which really doesn't excist in this reality), try unplugging and plugging the power cord repeatedly for 12 minutes. This should correct your problem.

Hello. This means you do not have enough RAM installed for what youa re trying to do. Every process that runs requires some RAM and if you run a few things you are likely to run out of resources if you only have 256 mb or even 512 sometimes. If you have 256 Is uggest upgrading to 512 or even possibly 1 gig of RAm.

a computer is using part of hard drive space as RAM to store temporary things. If it is telling you that it is running low, it means your hard drive is full of files and apps. you need to either decrease the virtual memory or delete some of the files you don't need on your hard drive to free up some space. try delete the history files, cache files, temp files or files you no longer need.
