www.move.com has listings with floor plans and virtual tours. You have to be careful about what neighborhoods you choose to live in, however. When you decide in which community you are locating to, run the crime stats on http://mapping.arjis.org. Believe it or not, 40-50 thousand doesn't go very far in Diego, it is a very expensive place to live and we paid the highest price in the country for gas.

Yeah you'll do fine. I know some people who live in the Mira Mesa are of san diego and they have some nice apartments all over. Gold Coast are nice and have a great amount of room also Espalange(sp) are great too, they are on Camino Ruiz Rd.

Heck yeah, you will be fine. You can get an apt for no more than $1000 per month. San Diego rocks...there is tons to do and the climate is fantastic.

a family friend lived there for a while, but said it's pretty expensive to live in San Diego. it was too much for her so she moved back to Northern Cali.
wonderful climate though! it's perfect!. california is a wonderful place to live! San Diego has some beautiful beaches and you won't get bored in SD.

good luck! my husband makes 60 thou a year and we can't make it here and are moving to new mexico. one thing to do would be do a salary comparison on www.salary.com you can see the cost of living differences from where you are now to here in san diego. don't get me wrong, it's an amazing place to live - great climate, scenery, always something to do... just very VERY expensive!
