if you are using win xp you can just use remote desktop
click start all programs accessories communications remote desktop that will get you into remote desktop.
1st on both pc's you need to right click on my computer then choose properties then the remote tab then put a check where it says allow users to connect remotely
now you want to connect to home from work so your gonna need your home external IP address go online with that pc and go here http://www.whatismyipaddress.com it will display your external IP as soon as the page loads
then when you go to work open remote desktop then click options then the local resources tab then put a check in the diskdrives location that will allow you to move files between the 2 pc's
once thats done you can click connect type in that IP address and will get you to a log in screen for your pc
it sounds like alot but its very easy good luck

one more thing if you are not using windows xp remote desktop
can be downloaded here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/tools/rdclientdl.mspx
just download install and follow all the other steps

Well, 99% chance they installed a firewall. If they didn't, their stupid.
Therefore, you cannot access "directly" from home. However, ask them if they have a VPN software (Virtual Private Network). This allows you to connect to the company and access data. You will log in and be secured.

you might need to set up a wireless connection
but it would be alot easier to just save things to a disk and take the disk back and forth
