or you can publish it yourself. I don't know if Barnes and Noble still do it but here is how it works: you pay x amount of dollars and you get x amount of books, hence in essence your book is published but if you want to publish it with a big company I'm pretty sure you need an agent.

I understand that it is very difficult to get published without a publishing agent. You need to find an agent that believes in your book is good enough to sell and willing to work for you.
