How long to you have to collect on a debit or credit card purchase if it did not go through the system from the place you purchased your items at?

What if you went to a resturant back in Jan and the credit cards didn't go through for 19 days in a row. and just this week the resturaunt is putting all these back in manually because of the credit card companies fault. and are causing some of the customers to go into over draft

It all depends on you bank mainly, or the company of your purchase. I go through bank of america and most of mine pend once card is swiped... others take up to 3 days. There was one time, and one time only, one charge took a month to show on my account and I think it was probably the stores fault there.
