You can go to a planned parenthood center and sign up to get it free. It is about 97% to 99% effective. Some people gain wieght and some don't it just depends on how your body reacts to it and how active you are.

It depends on the kind you get, where you get it and whether or not you have insurance. I do know that there are places that offer it very cheap. What I would recommend doing is contacting a family planning resource and seeing if they can recommend anything to you. I hear that you can get it from places like that as low as $5.00.

Birth control is 97% effective. They recommend taking it at the same time everyday and if you go on any kind of antibiotic while taking birth control that can decrease the effectiveness of it.

Weight gain depends on the person. I gained weight when I first started taking it, but lost it a few months later. You just have to take care of yourself. It should not have a huge dramatic increase on your weight . Talk to a doctor about it.

I used to have insurance that wouldn't cover it (funny, they covered Viagra...) and it was around $35 amonth for ortho tri-cyclen. That's pretty avg for name-brand birth control pills/patches. Generics are considerably cheaper and just as effective. If you take it right, 95-98.5% effective. You may gain weight, or lose it. Best bet is to go to Planned Parenthood, then it's really cheap- even free!
