Joe blew it when he lossed the Democratic primary to Ned Lamont. He doesn't have Lamont's money, supported the war in Iraq, now pledges to run as an independent in the general election in November. Do you think this might indicate a trend with other incumbents, and his independency weaken the Democrats, or is it open-season on the "war hawks" period?

Joe will win in the end... there isn't a strong REP candidate and he'll get lots of moderate REP votes due to a couple of his moderate stances, including his stance on Iraq, which has been blown out of proportion by the far left. What was the breakdown of votes last night? 49% to 51% or so, depending upon who you believe. Very close.. he's clearly the better man, albeit dry as burnt toast.

Demos threw a hissy fit yesterday and let far left wing take over, but that's OK with me since I'm a conservative. What do the people of Conn. think they're getting with Lamont anyway? He owns a cable company worth something like $250 million and he wants us to wave the white flag of surrender in Iraq. Don't you think there are more issues than that that are meaningful to you? Read the newspaper, listen to the radio, and become aware. Joe will run as an independent and he'll get not only his primary support, but also that of enough republicans whose other choices are to throw away their votes on a very weak republican candidate or let "One Issue Dead Head Ned" win. This time Conn. will be better served when they keep Joe.

If he maintains his base (48% is no landslide) and can swing some moderate Republicans, he'll win as an independent. And there goes a Democratic seat. At least Joe had the morals to vote his conscience and not for a party line.

Connecticut missed the boat by not electing Joe. I hope he runs in the general election as an independent as he is one bright ray in a sad democratic party. A wonderful man ,who is very smart . I'm sure all independent voters in Connecticut will vote for him in September.

Even Rush didn't know the republican candidates name! Joe will win as independant, and this will prove that the democrat party has fallen off the deep end into left wing oblivion.. They will not recover from it either.. this will lead to a huge net increase for the republicans , who run right and rule centrist with predictable regularity.

i think the independency will end up splitting the democratic vote, which might cause the rebuplican nomination to win.

so by that it might weaken democrats.
