Joe blew it when he lssed the Democratic primary to Ned Lamont. He doesn't have Lamont's money, supported the war in Iraq, now pledges to run as an independent in the general election in November. Do you think this might indicate a trend with other incumbents, and his independency weaken the Democrats, or is it open-season on the "war hawks" period?

War hawks from both sides of the aisle are in trouble. No one in his right mind wants to be associated with this President. If the demos take the house, count on impeachment hearings.

Lieberman is proving himself to be a sore loser. By going independent, he is hurting the very party that put him in office in the first place. He will lose and will never serve in public office again. He lost because he supported a loser President and continues to support a war no one wanted.

I think his loss is indicative of a distrust of incumbent politicians it general. People look at all the Congress and Senate have NOT accomplished over the last few years and want new blood/new ideas. Basically, they want a change, and change is a liberal ideal.

Joe's decision to run as an Independent just shows how little respect he has for "the will of the people". The people have spoken. He lost. He needs to get over it and move on.

Whoever wins the next round of elections will almost certainly do so by pledging to follow the wishes of the vast majority of Americans, and swiftly and systematically bringing home the soldiers that were sent to the Middle East as part of "W's Excellent Adventure". I might even go so far as to suggest someone could run on a platform that was pro-Gay marriage, anti-Flag burning amendment, and pro-Troop withdrawal and STILL win.
