I don't think 4oz is too much as long as ya baby's doctor is ok with it. My son is 4 weeks and eating breast milk which is supposely more filling and eating 3 and 1/2 oz. He was small at birth only 5 pounds 1 oz and his doctor loves that he's eating as much as he is. But he eats ever 3 hours and goes one time for 5 hours at night. It may also depend on how often ya feeding him 4oz just call ya baby's doctor he'll assure you either way. GOOD LUCK and Congrats. Isn't being a parent wonderful?

My 3 week old will eat till she spits up. So you can feed them too much, But her pediatrican said at 2mos 3-4oz is normal. Although my daughter probably won't be eating that much. My son was taking 4oz by 5 or 6 weeks. I was told as long as you aren't forcing them an their not spitting it back up you are fine. If you think it is too much feed less at a time but more often.
hope this helps

No it is not to much my son who is now 6 1/2 months old ate 5-6oz when he was just over a month, and then 8 oz at 3 months you are suppose to feed on demand when the are a baby, and no you are not setting him up to be over wieght, my son is on the average scale now for the wieght chat and he just started being on the average 2 months ago, he was under wieght and couldn't figure out why (high metabalism i guess) But just keep doing what your doign he will be fine, they are suppose to triple thier wirht by the time they are 1 anyhow, It will all be fine.

Don't let anyone try to be a nursing nazi--sometimes nursing just doesn't work out.
Also, just relax. He'll eat as much as he needs to eat. Babies will go through growth spurts where they eat a lot for a few days/weeks and then sleep/grow.
Don't worry too much about him being overweight. Just keep feeding him formula and you'll be fine.

Your son will eat as much as his body needs. You'll also see him not eat as much on some days because he just doesn't need it, and then then next day or two he'll eat much more to make up for it. Don't worry about this setting him up for being overweight - just make sure that when he's a toddler and eating solids that he eats a variety of good foods and not just junk.

Let them eat, as long as he getting what he needs why worry? My nephew was a month old and eating 6oz and the doctor told my sister it was normal; as everyone says each baby is it's own individual and grow at their own pace. As long as he's not getting cereal mixed in the formula he will not gain alot of weight. Besides when he starts moving and is active you won't have anything to worry about.

Not at all. My 7 week old has been drinking 4oz. since 5 weeks. It's okay. My pediatrician said it's fine. The weight gain. Don't worry about it. Once he can crawl and walk, he'll lose that weight quickly.

How often are you feeding? If you are doing it every 3-4 hrs then I would say it's ok. My youngest was a premie and had digestive problems so she would eat 2ozs- every 2 hrs or so but my oldest was eating about 3ozs every2 1/2-3 hrs. Both are average weight for their ages
