The likelihood is smallest right after your period. Generally, one doesn't ovulate (produce an egg) until around 14 days after the first day of your last period. So, you are most likely to get pregnant for thee days before and five days after you ovulate (sperm usually live about 3 days in the vagina/uterus). However, I have relatives who rely entirely on the calendar for birth control ("rhythm method"), and they have like 4 or five kids...
