This is probably happening because you have call-waiting. go into the dial up options(Where you add/change phone numbers for modem to dial) and check the box to suspend the call waiting feature. Make sure it shows that it will dial *70 befor the number this is the code to cancel calll-waiting on a per call basis. That should fix your problem.

Just add *70 to the number that the modem is dialing out and that blocks from you gettting disconnected and I would search the net for call waiting software, I will notifi you when someone is calling and if you want to pick up it will disconnect you from the internet so that you can speack to the person.

When you have one phone line that you use for making calls and surfing the web there is nothing you can do to fix your problem. On a single phone line you cannot use the internet and make a call at the same time. If you want to end this problem you need to get another phone line or broadband.

humorous you should ask, because I merely lost my internet connection for 3 days, and that i realized how a lot I position self assurance in it. i'm making plans a visit to eire next week, so it really positioned a carry on my research and reserving. also, i needed to purchase live performance tickets to work out The Killers in Dublin. They went on sale 3am my time, and that i had no thanks to purchase them without the web. i wager you're able to say that's totally tricky, and that i think powerless without it. There, i'm carried out venting.

well that is dial up for you. your computer connection is through your phone carrier. i don't know how to fix it, beside recommending switching to dsl. meanwhile, when you FIRST hear the phone ring, start clicking on links on your computer... it used to work for me when i had dial up. i think it keeps the computer's memory busy and it's "still working" as the phone rings.

There should be an option on your dial up connection to stop that. Either that or get DSL.
