We are the most mixed race. Dont forget my Latin brothers and sisters also. Some of them look white but are not, some of them look black but are not.
Black Americans are rarely and I say this loosely, African in descent.
Most are combinations of Indian(Native American), caucasian or Islander, some french(creole), some Irish, some even Asian.
We are the most mixed breed. We are every man and every woman.
(years of slavery, conquest, and migration).
I agree all whites are fair skinned they may have different eyes and hair yet their skin is constant(tanning does not count)
Lack of pigmentation or Melanine.
Remember those that have dark skin in europe were conquereed by the Moors(Africans) therefore they have darker tones of skin example
Italians in southern Italy. Spain is another place, the list goes on. Moors occupied a large area in europe for about 500 years

From what I have learned, there is not such thing as race. Of course this highly debated among people. A person does not have a race, they are of an "ethnicity". But anyway, the reason why people are "different shades" is because of where they are from. It mainy has to do with where their ancestors came from. Your skin has different amounts of melanin depending on what part of the world you or you ancestors came from. The people in African countries, for example are darker because the are closer to the equator and the sun is stronger there. Those who are from, or their ancestors are from European countries often have lighter skin because the sun is not as strong. And the melanin amounts are different in their bodies. There are MANY reasons why people are different colors.
All people vary in color....that's just the way life is. I could go into more detail, but I would run out of room, and you probably don't want the technicallities of it all. And, if you believe in evolution.....well, that's a whole other ballgame so to speak.

Goodness, you must have a *very* limited level of observation.
Caucasians include Native Americans, East Indians and other people who have extremely dark skin pigment.
Caucasian is a race, not a color.
There are only three races of people on the earth; Asian, ***** and Caucasian. Often (thank God) there are mixtures of these three races resulting in the melting pot of the world coloring. There are wide variations of skin melanin (pigment) within all three races; Asians range from lily white to deep pigmented Polynesians, as do Caucasians. ****** can be Albino and thus "whiter" than a Caucasoid.
Arab & hispanic, that you mentioned are cultures, NOT races.

Liza,
Please go learn something about races before you post stuff like this. A "race" is not defined by color, instead, the term "race" is defined as a set of physical characteristics common to an entire "species" of animals. Do you remember your kingdom phylum order class family genus species discussion from Middle School science?
Color, is in other words, only ONE of the physical characterstics used in science to define a race. There is no one dominant property that trumps all others, either, and there is such thing as a "white" ***** through the (albeit rare) disease we call "being albino" - the man has no skin pigmentation, but, he is still from the ***** race.
There used to be four distinct races - ***** in Africa, Asian the Eastern Steps, Caucasian in Europe, and Indian in America. Caucasians managed to push the Asians to the very steps of the world, never got past Africa - but the destroyed all aztecs, mayans, pipils, etc; from the American continent.
So now there is three, caucasian, ***** and asian.

Because black is beautiful. Our skin ranges from very fair like halle berry (and even lighter) to dark like wesley snipes Hispanics have some variety my fiancee is puerto rican and white and it is obvious that he is mixed. I suggest you get a black mate, stay ahead of the trend you know lol. If a English person and a Irish person had a baby they would say the child is both but when me and my fiancee have our child she'll just be black I guess its because she will be most obviously black. Its like that and thats the way it is. I am fairly dark one of my sister is caramel colored and the other is very fair and we all have the same daddy I love it!!!!!!!!!

White, asian and black people all come in different shades of colour, it's just because of the melanin content in your skin...there's MANY different shades of european people, from ultra fair skinned scandinavian people to southern italian people who are very dark, to skin that tans easily like some of my english friends, to the more olivy skin of eastern europe...skin colour varies everywhere. If one black person has lighter skin than another, it just means they're from a different region with less harsh sun, or that they may have white or asian blood in them.

Your Caucasion??? Really!! HUGE SURPRISE. Why are ya'll soooooo worried about black people? Seriously there are like 5,000 questions on here posted by white people about blacks hair, skin, attitudes, money...why are you soooo concerned. White people come in different shades too. Paris Hilton is pale, white Jennifer Aniston is a little tanner. Asians are different shades as well as Hispanics and Indians. I think your just to ignorent to notice. A lot of black people are actually mixed with other cultures, like I am black and italian therefore I am a lighter shade of brown with curly hair. And some white people are mixed with mexican or indian and therefore they are little darker in skin tone. Which is why there are like 8,000 different shades of make up to buy. You are EXTREMELY ignorent and bored. Get a life.

I think all races vary is shades, but blacks may vary more due to interracial mixing in their history...like indians and chinese in trinidad/guyana....and also there are so many different tribes and countries in africa, the color differences may have started there. but there really is variance in every race, even whites!
