Most Internet connections have less bandwidth up than down. The time it takes depends on the size of the file and your connection. A big file on dial-up can take a long time (20 to 45 minutes).

That really depends on the size of the file. If you are waiting for a very long time for the file to attach (longer than about 15 seconds) your file is likely to large to attach.

You have mentioned you have dial-up connection, check the upload speed, it takes a long time for 7 MB file to get uploaded, it depends on the speed, may be 30mins. You can try in the night hours for a hastle free upload or if possible prepare part zip files and upload.

Small text file, less than 100kb: a few seconds.

A larger file, like a smallish multipage Word document with small graphics: a slightly longer time, while it scans the images.

Something larger, like a sound file: estimate, about 30 seconds, maybe a minute. If it's stretching the limit for email attachments, even longer, especially if it contains multiple format items like graphics, sound etc.

Music files are usually sort of big to be sending by email. I've done so too in past times and it takes forever :( So yeah that's why it takes such a long time to send. Big file.

There is no one answer to your question. It depends upon the pc that you are using and the file size that you are attaching.
