Why do communists support people like Bobby Sands?

How is starving yourself to death honorable..? If he would have gone to a English Military Outpost and died in a hail of gunfire I would understand, but starving yourself isn't exactly a heroic deed.

What would you have had him do? He was in jail for God's sake ... not much chance of a hail of gunfire there, unless you consider weapons smuggled in by the UVF ...

He's got you talking about it...and apparently there are some that do think it was heroic.
