Where are you located?

SoCal:
Edge & Millenium are the best schools down there. Jimmy DeFore is great too. These would be for Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, etc.

NoCal:
Not much around here. I own a dance school in Sonoma County. I really depends on what kind of dance you are looking for

If you are anywhere in the SoCal region, you NEED to get to Buddy and Laurie Schwimmer's 5-6-7-8 Dance Studio in Redlands, CA. If you've been watching "So You Think You Can Dance" on Fox, then you've seen Benji Schwimmer and his cousin Heidi Groskreutz dance. I train with them and the dance that is taught at this studio is without question first rate, top notch. They teach not only ballroom, latin and swing, but jazz, tap, ballet and hip hop as well. You absolutely have got to check it out. The Schwimmer's are the best!!!

What dance style interests you?

If you are thinking about majoring in dance - I don't know.

NoCal has really strong ballroom community, depending where you live you can find a good dance studio. I know many schools, but if you tell me where you live it may be easier.

There are studios and there are schools....

I think CalArts has the best dance school.

After that, Irvine and Riverside -- both top notch dance schools.
