Im a film student and want to make a website that I can put my movies on for people to download, but I have no idea where to begin. Most sites I saw didn't touch on downloading files.

As a student at my film school, they own the copyrights to all of my work, and if it's the same with you, you should check to see that they allow you to have a website with your movies online. I know that ours will only allow about a minute long clip without any problems.

Our site used Cleaner to compress our videos for the web; it's a program that sometimes comes bundled with Premiere. I'm not sure what the best program is out there to compress video for the web is lately, but that's one for a start.

I would also recommend learning to build a website with either Flash or Dreamweaver. Both would help you learn to make a more dynamic site. Dreamweaver is a good tool for people who don't particularly want to code, but other people would probably say programs like FrontPage are just as good.

But it would certainly help to learn some code. Right click any page and you can select "View Page source", or select any part of the page and right click "View Selection Source" to see how that part of the page was made. It will make every webpage into a learning tool for you.

Good luck, and I hope your films are worthy of the time to build the site!

hi W, There are 2 options to construct web pages, static and dynamic web pages. Static web pages are in reality merely textual content information coded in a language said as HTML. that's the finest to learn. there are diverse wysiwyg (what you spot is what you get) editors or web page builders that could help you construct the pages. the 2d selection is to create a dynamic website utilizing a database and an internet programming language, mysql and Hypertext Preprocessor for instance. in case you sign up for internet hosting by ability of my associate link i'm prepared that can help you you out inclusive of your challenge. merely get in contact by ability of my profile if you're in touch.

Do you want it to have a thumbnail of the video or what? Because it isnt that hard to have a website, a list of files, thumbnails beside them, and host them.. Videos, though, take up alot of hard drive space, so you may be better off hosting a site yourself... im me at gregorian_soldier@yahoo.com .. maybe i can help.

web development is not something you learn in a weekend. At least to look professional. I know many hacks that have been doing it years and still produce crap
