Well, sure I've heard it, being my own name and all... I for one love my name! It's unique. For a long time, I thought I was the only Jamin anywhere. Well, at least it's made my popular with my Jamaican buddies (They Jammin', and they hope you like Jammin' too!). :) From what I know, the name is derived from Hebrew, meaning 'Right Hand'. Isn't that what a good son should be after all? I for one support you if you're still thinking about giving the name to your boy. Anyone who'd make fun of his name before getting to know him seems closed minded anyway. Congrats!

Well, that is a very common nickname for Benjamin. Benjamin is used in German, English, French and Hungarian. Its source is Binyamin, a Hebrew name meaning "Right-hand son."
