Your question is leading - and I don't agree with your premise.
Some of the best films I have ever seen were not been made by an American production company, or made in America. In fact, hundreds of films and TV shows are actually made in Good 'Ol Canada because it looks more "American" than America on camera. How sad is that?
Did you know, for example, that Lucas plagiarised the first Star Wars storyline from a much earlier Kurosawa (Japanese) film?
So, since you've brought this up, perhaps you might just be ready to enjoy some of the WORLD'S greatest films:
Cinema Paradiso
All of the Studio Ghibli's animation films
Amelie
Il Postino
LIfe is Beautiful
Goodbye Lenin!
Seven Samurai
The Full Monty
Any of the Ealing Comedies
Curse of the Cat People (yes that was from the US)
Late Night Shopping (UK)
Any of Kurosawa's films
Calendar Girls
Any Wallace and Grommit film (obviously)
The Bicycle Thieves
Black Narcissus (1947)
The LOTR Trilogy
and one of my fav's - Muriel's Wedding
That's just off the top of my head and should keep you going for a while - think of today as the day you opened your mind to something new. I am sorry that I can't recall many films from India but remember that some of the Bollywood films are made on a scale that more than surpasses the US funding.
Finally, consider the vast number of films completely ripped off (and often completely ruined) by Hollywood from ealier films made in other countries:
The Ring
Solaris
Star Wars
Insomnia
... you know what? that list just goes on and on and is wasting time - start watching some decent films from all over the world INCLUDING the US of A.

I don't know if Americans (I'm assuming you mean US) make the best films. They certainly make the most, of which some are very good and probably about the same are utter garbage. There have been some very good films from France and Argentina but they tend not to be widely screened because of the language problem. Britain made some very good films in the 50's but went a bit off beam in the 70's as indeed the US did.

Hollywood makes franchises that are at best, well produced.
Their history films actually are wrong. They change history to make it suit America. Their action films are all the same and boring. British/Irish/Australian films are much better. Eastern made movies are very good too. Hollywood does have a gi-normous budget, I can't argue about that, which puts the gloss on otherwise tired old formulae.

They don't, People make good films. Whats considered the best film in one country isn't the case in another country. Besides many American films may gross more at the box office only meaning they are popular not the best. I don't really care who made them, as long as its good and I enjoy watching it again and again. :-)

Because Hollywood has the best people in the world.
They're coming from everywhere to make good movies...
They come / and came from Europe, before WW II ...
The Nazis didn't like good film-makers...
So, many people left Europe, to come to Hollywood,
to make good movies. Billy Wilder for example.

they have more money...after ww2 the u.s gave money to europe, one of the conditions was that we play there movies, the french where the only ones who objected to this which is why they have such a thriving movies industry, and ours is so crap....plus maggie thatcher wasnt exactly helping when she went around closing art colleges in the 80, the bloody nazi!!!
