Legally, no

But as a concerned boss, yes.

What kind of employee doesnt show up for 2 days and doesnt call? I know i wouldnt want them working for me! Do you want them working for you?

Good luck!

No, you have no legal obligation to check up on an employee if they miss work. However you may have an obligation to contact them before terminating there position. This obligation depends on your local state law but forn the most part many states would consider 48 hours to be abandonment.

I would have been calling Two Hours after they were late because the nature of my business is so labor intensive,(Landscaping)but I honestly do not believe there is any legal obligation in a "right to work" state.

I'm not sure if you are legally responsible but you may want to check up anyway. They may be hurt and need help.

If it is out of character for them to do something like that, then I would say you should out of courtesy. Legally, I don't think you are responsible, although it would look fishy if you didn't call and they turned up murdered or something.

No you are not. In fact, if they no call/no show for 3 days, it is considered job abandonment and you can terminate them.

Now, being nice, it would be good to call and make sure they are ok. Talk to your HR person.

Good luck!

You may want to out of concern... or just fire them! You are NOT obligated to call them.
