Life is like driving-if you keep looking in the rear view mirror you are not concentrating on the road ahead.

Well I will be honest with you, I started dating pretty much right away, but it really wasn't the same. After you have been married you have a better idea of what you are and what you aren't looking for in a spouse, so it makes it harder. I got divorced in 2002, I have since, dated about 20 or so women. The last one I dated was in 2004. I met her while dating someone else, and i had to go out with her. We are happily married and have our first child on the way. We have been married for almost two years now. So all in all it took me about a year or year and half to really get back on track.

Financially however is a different story, my ex, left me with a lot of debt. My current wife had also been divorced and understood. We have all of her debt and my debt taken care of now and are looking forward to moving toward a better future.

Good luck

That depends on what you consider 'on track', after three and a half years you should be well on your way. Sometimes, if finances were out of control, it can take a long time to recover from that but emotionally you should be there IF you have truly dealt with and put away the things that went wrong. As long as a person looks backwards they will continue to live in the past, its done, can't be changed, now you have to learn the lessons there are to be learned and move forward.

Well - it took 4 years for my divorce to finally come through. To be honest I was over the seperation as soon as I move out... Yes it still hurts, I still get bitter about what happened, the fact that I lost everything - including the clothes on my back...

But now I'm in a much better place. I have my independance, my flat, my life, it's not perfect but it's better than when I was married.

Get on.... Join a dance club, go back to school, do something positive, meet people - most of all have fun...

And no matter how much you loved - except that it's over.... and don't go back.

Good luck

Well it depends. Often three and a half years would be long enough to over something, but if you're only just getting divorced then the whole situation has dragged on so it's harder to let go.

How do you mean back on track though? Emotionally, financially? Either way I'd say it'll take as long as it takes, there's no limit on these things.

If you divorced him you should have been back on track long ago - if he left you then probably much longer. It depends if you like being on your own or prefer to have someone. I am getting remarried after 4 1/2 years, the last years of my marriage I felt like I was out of it anyway. As soon as we separated I started going out and having fun with friends and then met my wonderful husband to be....

Ive never been divorced - or even married for that matter - so you may feel I am not qualified to comment. Most therapists seem to say 6 months for every year you were married. If you were truly in love with the person then you never get over it, but in time will find ways to deal with it. You never know how life will develop and all sorts of new opportunities that you had never considered will suddenly present themselves to you. Who knows, 10 years from now you might be saying it was the best thing that ever happened to you! Good luck.

Longer than anyone expects. Even if you left them and you thought you were ready for it, you're not. It's one of those life altering events that just takes time.

Some people, especially if they got left, take a very long time to get through it and move on.

Financially, there is always an impact but you can sort through that in a couple of years if you don't do anything dumb.

Emotionally, it really depends on how you deal with any emotional event. If you are someone who generally doesn't like change in life, it will take you a long time. If you are someone who deals better with change in life in general, you will likely be able to move on sooner.

Just don't rebound into someone else if you're really not ready to move on, it just creates more problems and complications in the long run. I've seen it too many times.

It really is better to be alone than to be with the wrong person.

Everyone is different in how long it takes to get life back on track, also the reason for the split can make a difference to the time scale. You need to put yourself out there again and start enjoying life and the new people it brings into your world. Good luck.

I consider the whole time I was married to be off track. So I got back on track the day I kicked his sorry, pathetic, A S S out of MY house!
