Because you can save lives. When you start you day off in the am you say good morning to all your patients. Then you look at your patients lab and notice an abnormal lab, you call the Dr and you get the pt on meds,or blood transfusion,or more labs done. You saved your patient from a potential disaster. Nurses help with everything, from breathing to physical therapy. You are a shoulder to people when they need someone the most. But of course nursing has it's draw backs as well, but you didn't ask for those LOL

First of all.. the ONLY reason to become a nurse is because you love and care about people. You want to help them, you have to be patient, kind and understanding to the needs of the sick or elderly. My Mom has been a nurse for 35 years. She really cares and loves people and wants to help...$ is always second...

You should become a nurse because it would be something that you would enjoy doing for the better part of your life. You have to enjoy all the aspects, because you will not get your dream position right off the bat. That comes with senority and experience.
Why don't you have a character profile done. It will match you to jobs that will likely suit you.

If you like taking care of people. If vomit, wiping rear ends, changing bandages won't gross you out, you might enjoy it. If you are compassionate and truly CARE about other people, you'd make a great nurse. You'll have to like long hours, get along with grouchy people, and take orders well. You must pay attention to detail. The schooling is not easy!

Compassion and caring come to mind. So does being of service to others. You've got to be resilient as well as open-hearted, and be ready, willing and able to help in life-ending circumstances.
