It's probably just an american toad or fowler's toad... Perfectly harmless. If you liv farther south, it may be a small marine/cane toad, in which case it may be poisonous, but not a worry as long as you don't try to eat it and wash your hands. If it IS a cane toad it could be dangerous to small children, dogs, and cats... But my guess is it's an american toad.

No, its not poisenous. I have had SO many since the past almost 5 years ..... it's not poisenous. They're very cool animals and they eat worms and other insects, but worms are the best. Don't give it too much water, as they are never found near lots of water. They enjoy an aquarium with a small peice of log or leave they can go under. My toads LOVE their tank. Their tank has a smooth rock slanted against the side of the aquarium and I put moist leaves in it. Try that. Have the bedding either moistened dirt or soft, wet leaves.

The answer is yes. Toads have poison glands above their ears, which are design to ward off predators. But the poison won't effect you if you touch it, but I would recommend washing your hands after you handle a toad, because the toxin can cause irritation to your eyes.

If you found it outside, it could have salmonella. You would need to wash your hands before and after any and all contact. If your're pregnant, have small children, or any immune problems, I would not keep it as it could make you very sick. Pet store toads carry a smaller risk. Call a reptile vet to make sure he's healthy and not harming you or your family

Most frogs have a mild toxin, but I assure you they are not harmful to humans, only a few tropical species are. You are safe, the toxin would only hurt you if you ingested it. Don't go licking your toad and you will be fine.
