If the white sox didn't play in the AL Central and didnt get those 9-10 easy wins over the KC Royals every year (Tampa Bay is not as bad as KC so don't use that in ur answer!!!)AND had to play the Red Sox and Yankees more frequently, do u think they would be this good? i think they would be worse.

Is KC really that bad or is their record influenced by the fact that they have the Tigers, Twins and White Sox in the same division to beat them up? Not to mention the Indians being a good despite their subpar performance. Why do you even bother asking this question when you have clearly made up your mind and continue with the East Coast bias that the Yankees and Red Sox are the #1 and #2 teams in the majors. Maybe the Yanks and Red Sox are helped by the fact that the Orioles, Blue Jays and Devil Rays are all far worse than the Twins or Tigers. Who beat the Red Sox in the playoffs last year? The White Sox, who only improved as a team in the offseason (although the Red Sox improved quite as well, one must wonder what the Padres were thinking when they gave up an all-star 2nd baseman for a backup catcher who they sent back to the Red Sox).
Will the White Sox win their division? No. Will they win the wild card? Possible, but not likely, their starting pitching is overused and they have two free outs for pitchers in Juan Uribe and Brian Anderson. Could the Twins win the wild card? Possible, but not likely with Liriano going to the DL.
But the Yankees have questionable starting pitching outside of Mussina but they will slug themselves to a playoff spot, and the Red Sox have the league's MVP and rookie (Ortiz and Papelbon). So most likely both of them will reach the playoffs and you'll continue to think they're the greatest. Go look at their season series against the Twins, White Sox and Tigers if you really want to compare teams.
Here's a question for you: Are the Mets the best team in the NL or is the entire rest of the NL East just a waste of space?

Their record would not be as good... the East is a tougher overall division... The Devil Rays just took a series from the Red Sox... and to answer Badger's question... Yes KC is that bad and they have been for the past couple of years. This year the Indians are pretty bad too. I think the White Sox could contend in the East and possibly win, the Yanks and the Red Sox both have issues.

Wow, Red Sux fans, a little sensitive here? Still reeling from the Good Guys in Black sweeping your sorry asses out of the playoffs last year?
Sorry, but Tampa is as bad as Kansas City, and if anything, the Orioles are worse than the Indians are this year. The Twins are better than the Blue Jays, and the Tigers are better than the Spankmes or the Red Sux, so if the Pale Hose were in the East instead of the Central, they'd probably have a better record than they do right now.
With a much smaller payroll than the Spankmes or the Red Sux throw out every year in their strange homosexual relationship to see who gets to give it to the other from behind.

The White Sox would finish no better than third... regardless of what team you swapped out of the division to add them.
And chances are the team that came from the AL East to the Central would win the Central.
Baltimore and Tampa are a lot better than they look, especially if they weren't playing powerhouses like New York, Boston and Toronto a whopping 57 times a year.

Let us not forget that the Tigers and the Twins have better or just as good records as the Yankees and Red Sox.

I agree with C. The tigers and twins are better combined then the Yankees and Red sox. I'd say they would be about the same maybe even a little better.

It would very difficult for them to win but then it would also be difficult for the other teams as well. The AL's dominance is attributed to the competitive play during the regular season that prepares them for the playoffs and beyond. Unfortunately for the RedSux and the Yankmees other teams are catching up to their talent level with youth and great farm systems. It's getting very difficult for teams to buy a championship. We'll see how the Mets do in the playoffs. If anyone has tried to buy one this year it's the Mets.

Probably not.
If they played in the East they would have to play ny and Boston 19 times, instead of Cleveland and Minnesota.
