Both of them are currently not on teams and I'm thinking about picking up one of them...Rhodes has the experience, but Addai being drafted in James' absence leaves questions of who starts. Which back should I bring onto my team?

Like any backfield situation, this one is about to get messy (just look at Denver right now). Filling the void left by Edggerin James is not easy, but someone has to run the ball for Indy. Whoever wins the starting job by Week 1 doesn't necessarily have the job by the end of the season. From what I see, this is a backfield committeee-by-committe situation, where both backs will get equal share of carries. Obviously, Rhodes has the experience (one 1,000 yards season in his career) and already knows the system while Addai is barely learning. From what the scouts said, Addai is a better blocker than Rhodes when it comes to the pass-rush, allowing Manning to pass the ball (as if he needs more protection)
in which the offense relies on RB blocking whenever called for a play-action pass. Although Addai is the future for Indy, I see Rhodes getting the job, but I wouldn't be surprise if both got 900 yards this season, considering that the offensive line is one of the best, so pick your risk and reap the reward later.
Fact: Indy RB has average about 1,000+ yards in their rookie season (Marshall Faulk and Edgerin James has accomplish that during their rookie year in Indy).

I would try and get both on your team if you can. As far as I know Rhodes is the starter, but he is a little injury prone. I'm 90% percent sure he was injured for more than half the year last year. Now, I know it didn't matter because James was still in Indy, but he still was hurt. Plus, if Rhodes comes out and has a crappy first couple games then the team may put Addai in, which is even more of a reason to have both on your team. But for what it's worth I live in Indy and I keep hearing how great Rhodes is doing in camp and I really haven't heard that much about Addai. You never know what's going to happen and that's what makes fantasy football so great.

well, it is true that the colts said that dominic rhodes would go into training vamp as the starter, but im sure he probably has to compete with joseph addai. I say, if u want either 1 of them, take both, its the safest choice, since we dont know whose gonna start, and whoever does might get injured so its good assurance. Key fact here every1, in his rookie year, Dominic Rhodes got 1100 + yards, in just 10 starts, that means, if he started all 16, he might have gotten 1300-1500 yards!!! while u have to remeber joseph addai is from LSU, a very good football program, and in the nfl combine, he was the second fastest running back, behind reggie bush. so there really isnt any question about talent, but playing time, if both r availible, get both.

Rhodes has been told that he is the No. 1 until Addai proves otherwise. I'd go with Rhodes, he may surprise a few people with a few more carries to go on.

I have both on my team, so you can see how high I am on them. The thing is, they will platoon- and which ever you take, the other is a DEFINITE handcuff. If you feel Addai will start eventually, take him. If you feel that Rhodes has more experience, take him. I would personally advise to grab both, and simply put- they play for Indy. Indy is the powerhouse offense, so each will get their touches- each will get scores.

it's still Rhodes job to lose - unless you're in a keeper league, I go with Rhodes first. But not too early - 4th round maybe.
