The answer depends on what you need the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) for. For ease of use, and great feature, I would recommend a Palm-based PDA.

Since you mentioned the word "best" I would deduce that you are looking for a PDA that is feature-packed. In that case, I would recommend the Palm LifeDrive which includes 4 GB hard drive, built-in WiFi for Internet connectivity at hotspots, Bluetooth, built-in microphone, and a gorgeous large and vivid screen. It is the most powerful PDA in the Palm line of handhelds.

I use it to browse the Web (though the screen and speed of any handheld are not ideal for long Web surfing), getting and responding to e-mail, watching DVDs on the Palm (that's one of the BEST features -- with special software you would have to buy), and of course contacts, calendar, To-Do lists, IMing, and games.

If you do decide to buy it, I would highly recommend purchasing a wireless keyboard if you plan to be using it for writing letters, a lot of e-mails, notes, or other data entry intensive needs.

Although there is no handheld that is truly a laptop replacement, or even near laptop replacement, the LifeDrive is darn close. It is slower than a latptop, and has a delay due to its internal hard drive, but it is a sleek, powerful, and easy to use Palm.

It retails for $399, but you can buy it on eBay at around $320 for new and as low as $250 for used. If you decide to buy used, make sure that unit and screen is scratch free, the battery is recharging, and it includes all the accessories.

Overall Score: 8 out of 10. Enjoy!

PDA's come in multiple flavors. If you like Windows Operating System, then a PDA with Windows Mobile is the best, HP and Dell make very good ones.

If you like PDA with Palm operating system, checkout sony.

Or, you could choose a combo PDA and Phone, I like UT Starcom's PDA model 6700 which both Sprint and Verizon offer.
