No, they aren't only for gay guys. Start carrying around a backpack for awhile, no one thinks that's gay. Then get a new bag and if they ask, tell them you were tired of the backpack because it looked too casual, or something like that.

I like to see straight guys with purses, it makes them look more masculine unless they act gay..

I don't think so...i actually think that man who dare to wear them are more "man". Tell your parenst thats in right now...how about if you just go buy it? You can just later show up with it!But ask yourself...do i really need one, am i gonna be caring around that much stuff?
