standard tuning on a guitar from the thickest string to the thinnest is E A D G B E.

half a step down is making all the strings one half step lower, essentially it makes everything sound "one fret lower". that would be E flat, A flat, D flat, G flat, B flat, E flat.

theres a few ways to do this using relative tuning (tuning the strings on the guitar based on the other strings).

when you hold down the 5th fret on the thickest string, that gives you an A note. its the same note that the next string should make when you pick it without fretting it anywhere. if you were to use the 4th fret instead, it would be A flat. if you can match up the pitches of the 2 notes (4th fret on the thickest string, and the next string open), you can tune the rest of the guitar from there using that same relative tuning idea. just remember to go back to the low E after and lower that one.

to do this a full step down, just repeat the process, or start off the same way, but use the 3rd fret on the thickest string, rather than the fourth.

hopefully, this has made sense and you've been able to follow the train of thought here. if not, give me a shout and i'll try and talk you through it. i'm a guitar instructor, so i've had to show a lot of people how to do this, but its kinda hard without actually having a guitar to show you with. lol.
