baby has teeth, can handle foods with a thicker texture. Honestly I skipped stage 3 foods. Once my son was ready for thicker texture I began giving him table food. Its fresher and it made him adjust to the kinds of foods we eat as a family. I just cut up his food into pea size pieces and let him pick it up with his fingers and feed himself...it has done wonders for his ego...i can see how proud he is of himself and it saves us a lot of money!

There are no magic ages for the stages of Gerber.

Our doctor told us that it was the baby food industry's way of confusing parents.

Basically, if he is hungry for it then he's ready for it.

It's like diapers: a baby doesn't just outgrow stage 3 diapers in a day. It takes a little while. You know your baby. Watch his eating pattern and if he still needs more food than a stage 2, try a stage 3.

My daughter became bored with the stage 2. That's when I tried the stage 3. She didn't have any teeth yet, so I stuck with the dinners awhile, even while feeding table food at first, so she would get some kind of meat in her diet.
