It's possible. Your body is already working on preparing the next egg for ovulation even as it sheds the uterine lining from the last. Most women ovulate 12-16 days before their periods and sperm can live for up to 5 days within your reproductive tract if fertile conditions are present. Especially if you have shorter cycles, adding those two time frames together puts you early enough in your cycle that you could still be bleeding. If your cycles tend to be on the longer (29-32+ day) side, then you should be safe. But the general rule is if you don't want to get pregnant, use birth control every time you have sex.

It is possible but the chances of conceiving are higher when not on your period. Women with regular 28 day cycles usually ovulate about 14 days after the start of their period so that means their period won't come for another 14 days. Thus you can only get pregnant when you ovulate (sperm fertilizes the egg). However, some women have irregular periods and may ovulate around the time of their period and since sperm can live inside a female for up to 5 days there is a small chance of getting pregnant on your period.

Just to add to the positive comments, yes you can be pregnant and have what APPEARS to be a period! Clinically its not ,but try telling my body that! I had something like a period with my youngest son ,but it was the last one for the next 8 months.
Some women have what appears to be a period for 9 months.Doctors can't explain it,but it definately happens. God Bless you,AND MUCH BABY DUST TO YOU!!

Not likely, but possible. On average, you ovulate about 14 days after the START of your period. If your period lasts longer than usual, and intercourse takes place at the end, so that the sperm doesn't get washed away, and you ovulate unusually early that month, it MIGHT happen.

yes it's possible, esp if your periods are longer like 7-10 days. You could ovulate a little earlier, and the sperm can survive 2-3 days.

There is no "safe time" to have unprotected sex because you can get pregnant during ANY time of your cycle, including during your period. It may be less likely, but there´s still a possibility.
