Hi Char! I live in Florida, and your right. It's really hard to get into the spirit if you were always in one of those states that had snow. But after about 2 years here, I started to get creative. I do a "NAUTICAL CHRISTMAS" NOW! I love it! I use fish & light house lights. Nautical ornaments. Hang sea shells and star fish off the tree. They have beautiful boat parades every where here during December. Disney World is just magical that time of year too. Use your imagination. Decorate your windows with that fake snow behind your tree. That might help. Hope you have a wonderful NAUTICAL CHRISTMAS!

Get your sense of humor out and you won't be alone here.
We decorate with lights in themes and we think a real palm tree wrapped in lights is a hoot. Heck, some of us never take them down!
Our neighbors decorate with a Harley theme and a Santa in swimwear with a sign that says Work Days, 1 Vacation Days 364, and you wonder why I'm FAT?
Don't forget to send all the Yankee relatives a photo of yourself sitting on the porch with the Christmas Day newspaper and a cold soda, feet up (bare).
Relax, have fun, that is the whole point of moving here isn't it?
Or as we say in the South, git it or gitout. No, really stay and look at what some of your Florida neighbors have done

I do not suppose i would do some thing special. My grandfather invariably stated that when you maintain brief bills with folks, you'll be able to make loads fewer trips to the cemetary later on. By means of that, he meant "deal with people better even as they may be alive so that you'll have fewer regrets when they're long past." do not wait to apologize when you've executed some thing to hurt someone, and do not forget to tell the individuals that you love how much they imply to you. I've tried to comply with his recommendation and keep my money owed with acquaintances and household as quick as feasible. So i'd spend that final Christmas doing what I normally do. I like to play "Sneaky Santa" and do some thing unexpected for a complete stranger, so i might have fun with that. I'd enjoy the recollections related to my favourite Christmas ornaments as I embellished the tree. I might try to to find the perfect present for the folks on my list. I might be enjoying the sounds smells, and attractions of Christmas -- the Salvation military bell ringers the scent of sugar cookies within the oven, the lights at night. Just the usual Christmas stuff. . .All of the matters that are so common and but so worthwhile. God bless, and have a exceptional Christmas! ((((Debra M))))

I do not believe I could do something unique. My grandfather regularly mentioned that for those who hold brief money owed with individuals, you can make plenty fewer journeys to the cemetary later on. By that, he intended "Treat individuals bigger at the same time they are alive in order that you can have fewer regrets while they are long past." Don't wait to ask for forgiveness for those who've performed some thing to harm anyone, and recollect to inform the individuals that you just love how a lot they imply to you. I've attempted to comply with his recommendation and hold my money owed with peers and household as brief as feasible. So I could spend that final Christmas doing what I regularly do. I like to play "Sneaky Santa" and do some thing unforeseen for a whole stranger, so I'd have amusing with that. I'd benefit from the reminiscences related to my favourite Christmas adorns as I adorned the tree. I'd attempt to uncover the best reward for the individuals on my record. I'd be having fun with the sounds smells, and points of interest of Christmas -- the Salvation Army bell ringers the odor of sugar cookies within the oven, the lighting at night time. Just the normal Christmas stuff. . .the entire matters which can be so usual and but so helpful. God bless, and feature a distinctive Christmas! ((((Debra M))))

What do your neighbors do? Do they decorate outside? My parents lived in Florida in the late 80s and early 90s. They loved Christmas in Fla (they came from Ohio).

I think you can still play Christmas music, decorate your tree and the inside of your home. Make some cookies and and wrap gifts, etc. Be thankful you don't have to put on a ton of clothes to go outside and shop, drive and shovel yourself out!

If you REALLY want to feel Christmas, I guess you can put on a heavy coat, cap and scarf, mittens, too and go out caroling! :)

Just think- you can do all the fun stuff without the snow and all the winter clothes! ;)

Christmas is different here in Florida. It usually isn't cold. If it is "cold" it might be 55 degrees. That is cold to a Floridian.

Pros:
Kids can go outside and play with their new toys (bikes, skates, cars etc.)
You can go swimming or BBQ for Christmas.
You can build a "Sandman" instead of snow man.
No winter clothes
Cons:
No snow or hot chocolate
It might not "feel" like Christmas to a Northern person.

Just do whatever the natives do!! ive lived in the australian desert for 17yrs after being born and bred in the uk, and even after all this time, it never ever really feels like xmas without the snow, dark afternoons etc. Just go with it as a holiday and enjoy the company of other people celebrating.

Yeah, it will probably feel weird to you, if you're from up north and are used to cold and snow and so on.

I'm from Miami so I'm kind of used to warm sunny Christmases ... but when I lived in Japan I lived in Nagano, where they once had the Winter Olympics.

It was my first White Christmas ... it was great!

I'd say just do what you'd normally do on Christmas at home, as much as possible -- church, opening presents under the tree, or whatever.

And you can go to the beach too ...

You can still decorate and wrap presents and listen to the christmas music. ... You can get a can of snow u spray on your windows to make it look it snowed. It may feel different but just get in the spirit of it. Make hot chocolate and bake cookies that will help. good luck

How about going to a local indoor ice skating rink if one is nearby? It's pretty cold (relatively) inside those things. How about having a X-mas party with food associated with the holiday, decorating the tree and singing carols? I live in L.A., so I know what you mean!
