Part of the abuse is making you believe it's your fault. It isn't. Not one bit. The only person to blame is the abuser. How can you be a fault for protecting yourself, for wanting the abuse to end. There is no fault nor blame in that. Again, the only person to blame is the abuser and never the abused.

If he was really abusing you you probably feel this way because usually when someone is being abused there self-esteem is in the process of being destroyed by the abuser and the abuser usually makes the one they are abusing feel that they deserve it because of something they did. What you have to realise is that under no circumstance is it okay for anyone to abuse anyone else. It is not your fault. Maybe you should talk to a councillor or someone close to you that you trust and can share your feelings with and get some good advise like a best friend, parent, aunt, uncle or someone you see as a role model. Just try to remember that it is not your fault. No one ever asks to be abused so it is not your fault. He made the choice to abuse you and that is his own fault. Talk to someone who can help you get through this it can help it make it easier to get through and maybe then you will be able to understand the situation better. Remember no one EVER deserves to be abused.

If indeed your father was being abusive to you then you have done nothing wrong at all and may have actually saved other young people from him potentionally abusing them.

But if you were trying to be funny and not serious then it is your fault. But I do hope that you would never give a false statement that would be so harmful to your father.

If indeed your dad is in custody and/or has a restraining order to stay away from you then hopefully he will either be ordered to or will seek help himself.

Best of luck to you and please quit blaming yourself and feeling bad, as the reality is you helped not only yourself but hopefully your dad and protected other young children. In addition you served as a good power of example to others who have been victimized as maybe they will also report now because you were brave enough to do so.

You are experiencing what most victims of abuse feel, guilt. The parent has made the child feel unworthy and that she is the aggressor and it is all their fault. You badly need counseling to get your life back on track and out of that house. He will probably be back. Call a rape crisis center and they will help or refer you.

You feel that way because he is your dad and even tho he hurt you, you still love him and don't want anything bad to happen to him. What he did was wrong. You were right to turn him in. The best thing you can do now is go talk to someone ( therapist) who can help you work thru these feelings.
