I don't know when they do it now, but they used to ask you to choose at the beginning of the fifth grade.

Straight people don't necessarily choose to be straight. But gay people often feel that they "must" be gay. It's really a temptation. Much like alcoholism. You can feed the addiction, or you can turn away and try to live according to God's will. But you'll always still want a drink....and gays will always still want that lifestyle.

I don't believe that people choose their sexuality.... the tendency is there...I know, it is in me..however, I now have a wife and six children.....
So I guess some of us can choose not to be gay by examining what we actually want out of life....
My gay male friends are all living lives that are free from these sort of burdens( children and all that goes with them)...and most of them are emotional wimps, and pissy little bitches..even the ones with overdeveloped muscles...
Defining oneself by sexual preferences is idiotic..it shows that whether straight or gay we still think of sex as some sort behavioral banner to be waved.
I think that we are born into our sexuality and the rest is perspective on what we find to be our needs...some peoples needs are just more shallow than others...

You have a point there, Though I even know some "gay" people who made the choice to give up the opposite sex because they got turned off to them somehow. But, those who think all gay folks choose it, may have had a time in life (and maybe still in it) when they found themselves strongly attracted to the same sex and thought "no... I shouldnt" so you could be on to something here

Just like anyone chooses their own wants, lifestyles, desires, dreams and hopes.
some is where you come from, some is unexplained chemistry, some is influence....
Though to answer your question directly, I think there are quite a few gay people who are FORCED to be straight by the anti-gay stigma in the world. and I think that that is a crying shame, everyone's rights should end ONLY where other people's rights begin, people should not be so quick to judge.

no gay person chooses to be gay. just like i didn't choose to like men. it is something apart of them that is why they are there.
honestly, would you choose to live a lifestyle knowing most of the world doesn't approve of you, the president thinks your an abomination, and you cannot get the same equal rights as the couple living next to you? i know many gay, lesbian and bisexual human beings and not one of them choose their lifestyle.
no one in their right mind would choose to be gay. they would have to put up with bigots like some of those who have previously answered this question.
i don't know a single gay being who choose to be gay but i know a bunch who have chosen to be straight so they wont have to deal with all of these problems
so maybe you choose to be straight but not gay.

I feel that when a gay person chooses to be gay then he or she is choosing a sexual preference not a relationship, this person is tired or board of the opposite sex and is trying to find something else that might excite them. You can have a loving relationship with the same gender without having sex with them, so it becomes a sexual desire like bestiality and child molestation.

Everyone CHOOSES their orientation. That born gay crap is getting ridiculous and is a way for society to try and rationalize being gay. People choose who they want to sleep with. Are people born bisexual? No. They choose to experiment.

I have tried to be attracted to women just to see what all the fuss was about, and I was ok with the companionship and hugging, but when it came to kissing, I just couldnt do it, I can only conclude that I am just not gay, although I love other women just not romantically. I think you are either straight gay or bi only if you are inherently, and its not always by choice. Thats why I dont think you can "reform" gay people.

Being straight is the normal way of life, it is normal biologically. Gays are mutants (I dont mean this in a mean way), they are mutations, in that they have a female brain in a masculin body, or they just prefer the company of men to women, which is ine but are reducint their own fitness in the bioogical sense and are taking themselves out as contributing members of the gene pool.
