Ive seen a million people do this, and i know i do it myself. When you pull down the shoot on the mail box and put your letter in and close it....you ALWAYS open it again to check if your letter is still there or not. Has anyone ever ACTUALLY had their letter still be there? Or is it just an uncontrolable, pointless, urge?

I always double check too. I've never had my letter still be there. I have heard about mailboxes like that getting so full (like around the holidays) that you could actually reach in (with some flexibility, I assume) and steal some mail. I'd never do that though, it's a federal offense.

don't worry, the postman will double check that area anyway. also let's say your mail didn't go down, when somebody else puts their mail in and goes down, i bet yours will go down as well. im not paranoid about it. im more paranoid when it comes to anything electrical or anything that needs to be locked.

Yes it happened to me once, I think because the envelope was a little damp and that's why it didn't slide down. :)
