Godfather
Godfather II - both are classics with great cast, story and arguably the best movie ever.

Goodfellas - the same great cast, and based on a true story, but i can see people disagree if they don't like mob movies

The Wizard of Oz - just an amazing picture for the time it was released, a timeless classic

Man on Fire - I don't know why, but every time I see this I end up watching it again, Denzel is a great actor.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Jack at his best with an amazing supporting cast

The Outsiders - alot of people consider this a stupid movie, but another great cast, all of which who were really not discovered until after this movie.

I liked butterfly effect too, had you engaged, the kind of movie you probably need to watch many times.

I never saw Patch Adams, but have had many people comment that it is GREAT. THANKS

Drama:

Dangerous Liasons, A wickedly deliscious story of passion, control, purity and ruin.

Elizabeth: Truth is more heated than fiction, how the history of a nation, and our modern world was on the edge of knife, and fate molded a girl into one of the most powerful women in history.

Comedy:

Galaxy Quest: Smartly written, well acted, spoof of the Star Trek universe. Well paced, Great character arc, twists. All together one of the smartest best written movies I've ever seen. That said, you have too like Star Trek to get the jokes.

Hitch: Fresh story idea, which is rare in the romanic comedy. Physical comedy that is actually funny. No cheap "tricks", all good writting. Believable actions and reactions. Charming.

Action

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Beautiful, Poetic, Tragic. This epic story has strong female characters without the awkward force of some western movies. The pace of the fighting is rythmic and the visuals are lush. A stunning film that will leave you breathless.

Suspense:

Signs: A return to old school thrillers that didn't have to "cheat" to make your heart race. The contrast of the strong family lead, and the chilling brief visuals kept me literally on the edge of my seat. I havn't felt that way in years. Touching depth of character. Whole story involvement that leaves you going "oh my God, it was meant to happen that way...." spooky.. Wonderful.

Those are the ones I can think of right now.

Enjoy

My favorite film is Vertigo. It's an incredible artistic masterpiece, masterfully-arranged and richly textured, and Alfred Hitchcock's most profound and personal work. It is a tale of love, death, guilt and obsession, and it features highly inventive and creative camera angles, surreal and dream-like cinematography, vibrant San Francisco scenery, a hauntingly-beautiful and unconventional musical score from the legendary composer Bernard Herrmann, and a frightening, career-best performance from the terrific actor James Stewart.

Amores perros(mexican movie) & Criminal(john c. reily & diego luna) Both are about the same but with different stories. What they have in common are the twists and how complicated the plot is but at the end everything makes sense. makes your brain work.
