Sometimes when I play intensive 3D graphics games on my computer, my game play will lag or become jerky periodically or even repeatedly. Is this caused by insufficient system RAM or insufficient dedicated video RAM? Thanks.

It could be a few things. It is probably the video card (get a better one), it could also be the RAM (get more), it could also be your hard drive (get a faster/bigger one), OR it might be your CPU (need faster one).

In addition to the previous poster's comments, it could also be caused by a buildup of heat in your computer. Overtime the heat will build up reducing the effectiveness of your hardware components. This is the case if you experience good performance but over-time the performance begins to decrease. If this is happening, consider getting more fans/ventilation for your computer components, and checking the ventilation/heatsinks are installed and working correctly.
