I cannot stand the new job I started 2.5 months ago. What I interviewed for and what I'm doing are two completely different things (what I am doing now is a completely new job in a field I have NO prior experience in). I want OUT and to find a job in my old field. How can I tell prospective employers about what I'm doing now and why I want to leave. Should I even put my current position on my resume?

I was an admin for 10 years and now I'm process timesheets for the state. I don't even know if they'll keep me past my 6month probation--they fired a gal who was 2 weeks before her probation was up--same position I hold now. This is completely stressing me out. My boss is NOT a good teacher and criss crosses everything she says...first one way, then another. I cannot see myself doing this job anymore, let alone long term.

Generally, prospective employers will ask about your current job, your reason for wanting to leave; etc. If they ask tell them. Tell them you don't feel that you're being put in a posistion of fully uitlizing your work experience, in "fill in the blanks of your field".. This way, you won't be lying at all, and they will see that you have an interest in your ability as an employee. I wouldn't have gotten the job I have now if it wasn't for me wanting to look at all my options.

tell your prospective employers about your current job because they could see it as some kind of working experience which could give you an advantage over the other candidates.

They will ask you about it. Remember you gave them your resume.
