While we're at it, why is Aisleyne still there? IMO she is not a very nice person.........but probably makes good TV?

Thanks very much everybody so far for reasonable, sensible answers. It makes a refreshing change from people answering just for 2 points.
Silly me..I thought live meant LIVE.... so I now understand why audio is blanked.
I wish you would all get 10 points. But I won't leave it to voting.
Still hope Aisleyne falls on her silly ***....and the parents out there.....please don't let your kids watch this rubbish and take it as a role model. So.......who to win?

For legal reasons as they say. In short if they r talking about someone outside the house or a product brand or if it's something that they want to show later on. There is also a 15 gap meaning that what is shown when it is supposed to be live is actualy shown 15 later for cencership.

Its not actually Live, there is a 15 minute delay, during this time the blank out the audio when there are Naughty things said :D

they blank out bits out of big brother live because housemates often swear and the editors cannot predict precisely when it is so they blank it out when there is a possibility of a housemate swearing.
i mean take Pete (2 win) he cannot stop himself from swearing so they blank out most of his words.
you may not have a child of your own but imagine they turned the channel over if they were watching cbeebees or whatever randomly to big brother live and a housemate said f off!
Aisleyne is in the house still because...... i havnt a clue! lol!!!

It's in case housemates say anything bad about anybody in the outside world so Channel 4 can't be sued. It's blocked out in the Republic of Ireland also.

They do it partly to obscure naughty words before the watershed and partly to protect family members etc from possibly being lynched by public nutcases. They don't seem to blank the video, like Aisleyne (yeah she's still there) walking around with her bum hanging out.
