I don't think this is a fair question, and I'm a liberal.

No. Reparations is a hot debate issue and it would hinder the voting process. This country will never be able to carry the financial burden of reparations to the black community which by the way is not comprised totally of African descent. Many blacks are not descendants of slavery. Americans have for many years shouldered the burden of assistance to the black community with little success. I doubt very much if reparations will ever see the light of day. If it did I don't think it would accomplish much as far as blacks doing anything with it. I'm curious to hear what Bill Cosby has to say about it. He's been really straight forward with the truth concerning blacks and their lack of incentive and achievement. There are some very outstanding black men and women that have contributed to society that we can all be proud of and honor.
I'm sure this question will receive a ton of answers!

Hell NO, blacks who think they have it bad should take a look at Africa..... then after clearly seeing the future they would have had, get down on their knees and thank God that their ancestors ended up in America after being sold by thier African brethern as slaves.

They are not OWED a damn thing other than the chance to do the best they can as an American. That is what the rest of us get.... a chance.... it is up to the individual in most cases.

A better question on the ballots would be: Shall the borders be closed and all ILLEGAL ALIENS be DEPORTED as expediently as possible.

THE QUESTON SHOULD BE WHAT WILL REPUBS DO ???? Washington, July 22: The Afro-American community in the United States, especially the younger generation, still has little faith in President Bush and his Republican Party.

Relations between the GOP and black voters has , according to the New York Post, been bumpy and reserved.

That feeling came out clearly during Bush's address to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

"I understand that many African-Americans distrust my political party," Bush said during the course of his speech, his first to the NAACP after a gap of five years.

Black support for Republicans in elections has hovered around 10 percent for more than a decade. In 2004, Bush drew 11 percent of the black vote against John Kerry.

Eighty-six percent of blacks still disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job as president, compared with 56 percent of whites who disapprove.

I'm all for institutionalized reparations -- like creating corporation that pay out dividends the way Alaska native corporations do.

However, blacks have got to take responsibility for their own destinies. African Americans have to make education a priority for themselves and their families. And they MUST vote. The American political system panders to those who vote consistently.

They could but then they would look foolish. Reperations are injustice, there should be no reason that I should pay black people money for something I am not responsible for. Also as a side note my anscestors were proud abolishinists, have I ever recieved a thank you? No, and why is because I wasn't there.

That would certainly get them out. But surely, if you care about your environs, country and way of life the vote alone should be enough. I don't actually think it's the voting that's the problem, I think it's the registration process that seems problematic. I won't go into them here in case I get the usual abuse.

Around here, dirty politicians offer them up to $10 cash or a carton of cigarettes.

Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of every man or woman who casts an honest vote and I don't take notice of what color their skin is. I just don't much care for the crooked politicians who profile honest people and then try to bribe them to vote.

Could you be more specific?

What "injustices" are you thinking of?

Are they current in nature?

Did they "happen to" anyone living today?

Why not just pay people to vote (oops, I forgot, the Dems already do this!)?

Sure-do that if you REALLY want to see what's left of the Klan, the neo nazis, and the white supremacists come out to vote in droves.
