To get rid of a single item do the following. Go to the site so the history will update it as being visited today. Display the history. Look at todays date, hilight the site, and press delete (in Firefox you must use shift delete).

You go to history and look for the site under particular date and then delete it. I do many times when i needed to.

To delete you your searches,history..etc..Simply go to the top to "Tools" go down and select "internet options" then click on "delete cookies".To delete sites you visited go to "Tools" once again then click on "Internet tools" and then instead of delete cookies click on "Clear history".
